Inclusion

At St Margaret Clitherow, inclusion means creating a truly level playing field for every child—regardless of faith, race, gender, family background, socio-economic status, cognitive ability, mental health, or physical needs. We recognise that children grow and learn in different ways and at different paces, and we are committed to supporting each child’s unique journey.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that every child deserves equitable opportunities to succeed. This may involve providing additional support, adapting our teaching methods, or offering tailored resources to ensure that each pupil can thrive. We see every child as an individual, with their own strengths, starting points, and preferred ways of learning—and we respond with compassion, flexibility, and high expectations.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to be accessible to all, while still offering challenge and depth for those ready to stretch further. We aim to foster independence and resilience in learning, supported by targeted interventions and guidance when needed. At St Margaret Clitherow, inclusion is a daily practice that ensures every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Handbook for Families Information on Autism and ADHD in children is the KCC Local offer website.

This handbook is for Kent families who would like to know more about Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children. Please note this does not cover Medway although some of the information in the book may be of interest.

It was developed with help from parents and carers of children waiting for an assessment for autism and/or ADHD in the Canterbury area. The parents and partners involved in developing this Handbook wanted to make sure it has information that families would find useful.

The Handbook can be found here:
